BONUS CHART: While putting together my "The Not Down-Up Down-Up Jam-a-palooza" workshop for the upcoming 2018 Burning Uke festival, I charted out John Lennon's (Just Like) Starting Over. Listen to the original on Youtube and see if you can figure out which parts of the song will be played with something other than down-up strumming! (Just Like) Starting Over became Lennon's biggest single. It was released six weeks before his death.
Hot off the presses: Three new songs this week. For me, the best of the lot is the newest, but also the least well know. From 2016, it is What it Means by the Drive By Truckers. If you think people are not writing social commentary any more, you're not listening to enough new music. I love this song, especially since it doesn't purport to provide any answers, just questions.
Next we have the New Christy Minstrels folk classic, Today. I round it out with a call to action: Let's reclaim this sweet ballad of 1929: Tip-Toe Thru the Tulips With Me. It is probably intentionally ignored because of its unfortunate associate with Tiny Tim. But once you try to play it, you will find the timing far from simple. Go ahead. Play it in public. I dare you!

NAVIGATING THE SONGS
Use the search tab freely. In addition to searching by title or artist, you might want to search by decade, or search for "Parody" or "Holiday" songs. You can also search to find UkeJams' original "Uketorials"!
If you haven't encountered Uke Jams' charts before, don't skip over the Tin Pan Alley and early Jazz tunes. Most of them include the verses, which can be hard to find!
